2nd ODI : Steyn & Parnell wreck Aussies : Series level 1-1.Filed under

With 266 ODI wickets & 388 in tests, Mkhaya Ntini is easily the best fast bowler South African cricket has produced in last decade but now, 32 year old is under pressure to sustain his place in the team. Reason? Wayne Parnell. young 19 year old is quick, accurate and can swing the ball but above all, he's left arm fast bowler.. adding new dimention to Proteas bowling artillery. Moreover, Parnell is much better batting prospect than Ntini ever was.Resultant : One bad game where Aussies attacked Ntini in first onedayer and Proteas dropped vetern in this second game at Centurion for youth. and it paid off too as Parnell picked up 4 wickets on his debut ODI. It will be interesting to see how Parnell fares in unhelpful asian conditions but for now, at home, Wayne in best days of his life with tag of youngest South African cricketer with Central contract. Today, from the other end, Dale Steyn bamboozeld Aussie top order with his fastish outswingers, dismissing Brad Haddin, David Hussey and Callum Fergusson in addion to Nathan Hauritz. invited in to to bat first, Australians were reduced to 5 wickets for just 19 runs by the 8th over. young Callum Fergusson showed good temprament, trying to redirect visitors innings with his second ODI fifty but lack of support from other end spoiled his intentions. Australians were bowled out for 131.. not their worst ever batting effort certainly not enough to make a match out of it. Africans chased down winning target inside 27 overs to level series 1-1.
