Ramesh Powar1.jpgDo not confuse with Powar or Pawar. The latest all rounder to join Indian cricket team in Pakistan for the ODI series is called Ramesh Rajaram Powar and he certainly is full of "Powar", opps, Power I mean!!

He is an off spinner and a very handy batsman lower down the order. As far as his international cricket is concerned, he has only played two ODI matches, when last time our team were in Pakistan in 2004, and didn't managed to pick up an single wicket, but he has been a very consistent performer in Indian Domestic Cricket. In 7 years of Domestic cricket, he has taken 246 wickets at 25.91 apiece and has also made 2471 runs at an healthy average of 32.94. Take a look at his profile.

This season, 2005-06, he has been in even better form. He is the leading wicket taken in Indian Domestic cricket with 42 wickets and made 318 runs at 39.75. The only international glory he managed to form was 18 runs off just 11 balls at Rawalpindi stadium in 2004 series and nearly won that match for India.

He is a small man with big tummy. He might look like Former Indian batting sensation Vinod Kambli, who also happens to be fromRamesh Powar2.jpg Mumbai, he is quite different to him. In this Interview, he tells us how he felt when he was first selected for Indian team back in 2004 and also what other cricketing greats feel about him. His thick skin takes quite long to cool down, and probably that why he likes to have very long baths. Last time when he was in Pakistan, he made full use of the opportunity by consuming great Pakistani non-veg dishes and says that this time will be no different..

This mumbai player said as he left his home to catch the flight to Pakistan that he is keen on learning from coach Greag Chappell. That seems a very good sign from Ramesh Powar. He knows that is the captain of the ship is impressed by him, his ticket will always be available for free.

Being an off spinner, he doesn't give too much of flight to the ball and thats another good thing about him. Pakistani batsmen will be looking to come down the wicket to him, and that can be a tough challenge to him. We will soon find out how good he is..
