A fast bowler, willing to bend his back and bowl his fastest self, can always do well against star studded Indian batting.. This has been a pattern ever since Indian cricket evolved at International level and ain't gonna change anytime soon.Something Indian coach Gary Kirsten to work on. and quick. cause West Indies have identified this chunk in Indian armory and have utilised it perfectly in 2 of last 3 games. Today, in second one day international at Jamaica in 2009 Digicel ODI series, Jerome Taylor and comeback man Ravi Rampual bowled their quickest, and pitched it up for a change. Expecting short pitched bowling, Indian top order batsmen crumbled against little swing that both right hand bowlers extracted. A shining mirror like pitch as it used to be in 1960s, and a 9.30am start, 3 of Indian top order batsmen made ducks, reducing their team 8 wicket down with just 82 runs on board. Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who hadn't played a match winning innings lately, had a point to prove and found a able partner in Rudra Pratap Singh. Willing to dig in, RP Singh played out 75 balls and even hit a six in his 23 crucial runs. RP Singh + MS Dhoni partnership put on 101 runs from 156 balls to take Indians to first innings total of 188.. respectable but fightable by no means. By the time West Indies chase started, pitch has dried up and all the shine gone. Chris Gayle blasted his way to 64 runs off 46 balls with couple of sixes and sending out of this game once and for ever. Runako Morton, the other opener, saw his Windies team home with a healthy 8 wicket win margin. Record Partnership between MS Dhoni and RP Singh today = 101 runs from 156 balls which was only the 5th in history of ODI cricket for the 9th wicket. it was also the highest partnership for India against West Indies for the 9th wicket, beating Sameer Dighe + Debashish Mohanty's 66 which they made at Harare in 2001. 5 catches for Denesh Ramdin out of 10 in India's innings, which is just 1 short of world record for most catches by a wicket keeper = 6. Previously achieved by Adam Gilchrist of Australia, Mark Boucher of South Africa and Matt Prior of England. 7000 ODI runs for Yuvraj Singh. He becomes only the 5th Indian batsman to score that many runs for his country in one day internationals after Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and Mohammad Azharuddin.
