3 March 2009 :- what was supposed to be 3rd day's play in Srilanka vs Pakistan test match, turned out to be a black day in history of International cricket. For the first time ever, a cricket team was attacked by terrorists, just outside Gradaffi stadium in Lahore in Pakistan. Sri Lankan cricketers were air lifted that day after some of them suffered bullet wounds. Test was cancelled, understandably. 4 July 2009 :- both teams return to test cricket against each other, this time on Srilankan soil and memories of that sad day are sure to reoccur. But, cricket can't lie down to unwanted elements and the best cure to it is to move and let the cricket begin.. Muthiah Muralitharan, the ace Srilankan spinner, has been ruled out of this first test match at Galle cause of a knee injury he suffered in practice session the day before. Srilankan selectors have drafted in 24 year old Suraj Kaluhalmulla, who recently convered to buddism from Islam and Rangana Herath, the left arm spinner who has played quite a few gaves for Srilanka whenever one of their main spinners had to sit out. Thilan Samarweera, who scored consecutive double century in his last two tests, makes a return to International cricket after a bullet hit his thigh in the attack. Thankfully, bullet missed the important tissues of Samarweera's body and he is completely recovered from it. Another srilankan player who suffered an injury in that attack, opening batsman Tharanga Paranavitana, makes a comeback.
