12 runs from last 12 balls, with two wickets in hand including a recognised batsman should not be a tough task for an International team but such has been Pakistan's story of this 2009-10 tour of Australia. Green team came agonising close to memorable wins but returned home winless.. Electing to bat first in this final and only t20 game after winning tests 3-0 and ODI series 5-0, Aussies were given no freebees by Mohammad Asif, tactically bowling short of length to Shane Watson who likes to drive down the ground. A rocket throw from Umar Akmal sent Queenslander back into pavilion but Michael Clarke, in association with David Warner, started collecting free runs through some very quick running between the wickets. Pitch at Melbourne was offering plenty of bounce that even Aussie batters were failing to adjust to, but David Warner play some good pull shots before Mohammad Asif claimed his wicket and then Umar Gul dismissed Michael Clarke to kick start one way traffic back to dressing room. Cameron White, debutant Travis Birt, wicket keeper Brad Haddin and Mitchell Johnson departed close together as home team couldn't find a single baundary for 37 consecutive balls until David Hussey, fighting lone battle, started to counter attack. David Hussey's 40 unbeaten runs guided home team past 100 run mark but 127 allout, failing to bat out their full quota of 20 overs, is something they had never imagined. Shaun Tait was bowling below 150kmph throughout this season in domestic cricket but he came out firing all cylenders today and clocked 156.3, 159.0, 160.7, 150.5 (wide), 156.9, 155.1, 156.4 kmph in first over which is now the third fastest ever behind 160.9kmph bowled by Brett Lee and 161.3 by Shoaib Akhtar. Kamran Akmal, after both openers were dimissed in first 3 overs, took on Mitchell Johnson and collected 20 runs off his first over (playing straight pull shots artistically) to reignite visitors hope for a consolation win but it wasn't to be as Khalid Latif and acting captain Shoaib Mallik couldn't stick to wicket long enough to form a partnership. After Kamran, his brother Umar Akmal continued the lone fight but Mitchell Johnson bowled 17th overs as a maiden and then Dirk Nannes gave away just 2 runs in 19th over of the match against Umar Gul to seal the game for home team. The scoresAustralia 127 allout in 18.4 oversD Hussey 40*, M Clarke 32, Gul 3/20 Pakistan 125 for 9 wkts in 20 overs K Akmal 64, U Akmal 21, S Tait 3/13 Full scorecard : Pak v Aus, only T20.
