It hurts that India-Pakistan encounters are no more a regularity. not to me, but to UAE cricket fans, whose passion for cricket is no less, but own team don't make any progress in International arena.

A name - Abdur Rehman Bukhatir, has been behind many such cricket matches at Sharjah (one neutral ground with most number of ODIs played), but ever since Indian government

banned from sending national cricket team - the same man is trying other methods.

Dubai sports city cricket stadium is the new option. This all facility ground will be ready by January 2008, and Dubai is hoping for an International cricket series by the month of March 2008. The pitch, they say, is a typical sub-continent gem with loads of runs (& pain for bowlers). Only one day international cricket is expected to be hosted by this new Dubai cricket stadium, so no less than 7 months has been put in to work out the best flat center wicket.

Electornic scorebaord, a capacity of 25 to 30 thousand fans & over 50 hospitality suites with VIP Lounges are being made. over that - the seating arrangement at the new Dubai stadium will have roof shades for every person sitting. Media box, accommodating over 100 cricket writers & large dressing rooms for cricketers is just another facility Abdur Rehman Bukhatir has concentrated on. Special drainage system has been formed, although Dubai is not known for its rain affected cricket matches.

A 30 floor 5-star hotel, recreational & dinning rooms with top class symnasium & swimming pools is also there at Dubai cricket stadium. Whats more, there will be a floodlights with a difference. 'ring of fire' as it will be known, a series of smaller light poles will be set in association with lightning experts like Siemens, Philips & Musco, who generally work with American football stadiums. The idea is - let the played no see their own long shadows.

Only question : is, wheather this Dubai cricket stadium ever really get cricket matches to host. Looks like yes, they will. Specially because ICC themselves have their head office in UAE city.
