Presenting R P Singh - Rudra Pratap Singh.

This boy from Rai Bareilly, Uttar pradesh has surely made a name for himself taking 3 wickets on the first day in Pakistan's first innings of Second test 2006. Right now its lunch time at Faisalabad as I write this, and he has taken another wicket, with 3 more pakistan batsmen remaining. Although he has played 8 one-dayers for India, taking 11 wickets at 22.81 at piece, making your test debut, that too against arch-rivals Pakistan must not have been easy. So let me introduce you to this Lucknow youngster..Rudra1.jpg

Here is his ODI and first class profile, which proves that he has always been a accurate bowler, and can be pretty fast at time as well..normally bowling at 135km/hr but the best thing I like about him is the way he celebrates when he takes a wicket. Its quite tough to explain - he jumps with joy and gives an impression to stretch his hands but actually he does nothing. Just moves his head in right direction. As I said, its tough to explain but the next time you see him bowl, be ready to notice him when he takes a wicket.

To me, he looks a cute boy. And innocent one. And apart from playing cricket whole day in broad sunshine, and breaking windows, he also has done his share of studies in lucknow. In this very good article, he tells us that he also liked football more, but as he was better in cricket, he switched, just like Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Now I know why football is suffering so much in our country...!!

This may surprise you but he is very committed to him batting as well. Although he is yet to make any significant runs in international cricket, I am sure he has what it takes to be an all rounder - age and will. Here's another interview with Rudra Pratap Singh, at a very early age, when none of us knew him.
