Pitch for 3rd test - India and Pakistan - KarachiFiled under
Article
With less than 2 days remaining before we all know what exactly is the kind of pitch the curator has made at the National Stadium in Karachi, here is what I am able to find out till now..
The weather in Karachi is as good as it ever has been for making cricket pitches and if we still find a dead pitch, we all know whom to blame. The curator Agha Zahid has said that Karachi has always provided an interesting track and this one will be no different. ![]() I hear that the curator was thinking of getting electric bulbs to dry up the pitch, same as Faisalabad and Lahore but ultimately decided against it as the sun is shining brightly in Karachi. Here's is what exactly they do with the electric bulbs - The hung 15 to 20 bults of around 200 watts each over the pitch at about 3 feet height. They also cover the pitch with a sheet and this process is done at night so that dew doesn't make it wet and pitch gets the much needed heat. So... The curator finally signs off with this dialogue - "The pitch will have the bounce in the starting for the seam bowler and will help the batsmen in the middle with spinner coming into the game towards the end." Well, I just hope the pitch is not dead one. Anything else will do for me and I am sure our Team India will be up to the challenege. Even Pakistani Coach Bob Woolmer(who is critisiced by Wasim Akram to be the man behind the flat pitches) was seen happy - "Theis is the best square of the series, two days before the test match".
