Bowlers reported for illegal bowling action

Like Duckworth lewis method, illegal bowling action is an aspect of cricket not very many people understand. If you want to dig deep, refer to icc official website to download pdf on both of these rules and regulations associated with them.

But in short, a bowler can't extend his forearm more than 15 degrees from an angle with his upper arm and straight body position. Some bowlers do it all the time while some are found guilty when they bowl specific deliveries like Doosra (an off-spinners delivery) and Googly (a leg spinner delivery).

ICC rule says a bowler has to go under tests within 21 days from being reported and footage of match where ... .. Read complete article

India v Australia, Sydney test match 2008 : in Pictures

Australia had won the first test at Melbourne, comprehensively, but more importantly, that was their 15th consecutive win in test cricket where draw & loss are two other results..

World Record stood at 16.

Now we start this special "picture article" of second test at Sydney with jubilant Rudra Pratap Singh, the Indian left arm fast bowler who found himself as pace spearhead of India after Zaheer Khan was ruled unfit minutes before this test match started. 2nd Jan 2008 it was, when another sad chapter in cricket controversies started to unfold.

Rudra Pratap had hit that perfect length right from first delivery, swinging it away from both left-handed openers (Hayden-Jaques) from home team ... .. Read complete article

Bhajji banned for calling Symonds a Monkey.

Out of thousand examples you'll find, on biased nature of International cricket council (ICC), following is just another one -- India's off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has been given a ban of 3 test matches by ICC match referee for calling Australia's Andrew Symonds as "a Big Monkey" on 3rd day of Sydney test match, 2-6Jan 2008.. ignoring words like "F_ck", "F_ck-off" and "B_stard" which were used by Australian players in the same match.

Note : Harbhajan was found guilty under Section 3.3 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which says -- players or team officials “using language or gestures that offends, insults, humiliates, intimidates, threatens, disparages or vilifies another person on the basis of that person's race, religion, ... .. Ricky Ponting must apologise to Mr. Sharad Powar.

I wanted West Indies to win that Champions trophy final. Not because I like Caribbean team more than the fighters from Down Under, but because it's human nature to back the odds against and seek the thrills.

I described that final match while highlighting the ego associated with whoever dominates anything in the World (Lion, Roger Federer and Australian cricket team), and there is nothing wrong with it. You can read that article here, but now when I have watched that video of Australian players pushing/asking Mr. Sharad Powar to take a side on stage during distribution ceremony again, I am sure I need to raise this issue..

Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif test positive.

First the Oval test ficaso, then Younis Khan rejecting Pakistan's captainship before accepting it back two days later and now positive drug testing for the fast bowlers - Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif.

ICC had said around two months ago that they will be conducting drug test during the ICC Champions trophy - but not to every player. They will be selecting two players randomly from any two countries and take their samples.

This was nothing but a hint to every cricket playing nation that they check their players before sending them. BCCI announced that they will conduct their own drug testing on ever Indian cricketer - before the Champions trophy starts..

Listen what Sourav Ganguly is saying.

Apne
Dada ki baat sunenge naa??

It's very unlikely that you will understand above sentence unless you are an Indian, but then... it's equally unlikely that you aren't.

The above sentence are the last words from Sourav "Dada" Ganguly in the latest ad campaign of Pepsi, where they have made an Audio/video album and will be showing it's clips during the ICC Champions trophy matches.

This is a new try by Pepsi to attract attention during such a big cricket festival like Champions trophy, where they are asking Indian fans to join the ... .. Read complete article

Some Toronto memories, specially Injamam's batting in the spectators stands.

Sometimes, sports will bring the kind of drama that stay in your mind for a long time. And as I start this article to refresh our memories with the matches that has been played in Toronto, Canada so far, let me do it with something very similar.

Its been nearly 9 years since that day (14th September 1997) when Pakistan's Injamam-ul-haq crossed the boundary lines, went up the spectators stands to have a fight with some fans. Its still not known why Injamam did what he did, but one thing is for sure - it was not momentous.

TV replays showed that the Pakistani 12th man (16 ... .. Read complete article

Dhoni's six, Ganga's "controvertial" catch and Lara's irritation..!!

It was 151st over of Indian second Innings against West Indies in Antigua test match and they were on the verge of declaring their innings...It was Mahendra Singh Dhoni's blistering batting that had made the declaration possible for the Indians... It was the fifth ball of that over from Dave Mohammed and............. it was the fourth consecutive ball that Indian wicket-keeper wanted to hit for a six..!!

It all started with a single by Mohammad Kaif off the first ball to give the strike back to Dhoni, who was more suited to make quick runs as Indians were trying to make fast runs to set ... .. Read complete article
